Bar B Barn Dipping Sauce

I loved Bar B Barn Dipping Sauce. This is my version and when I serve it to my Montreal friends they always want the recipe. (which is so simple a 5 year old can make it)I’m not sure if it is the actual way the Bar B Barn made theirs, but it is always a big hit with my native Montrealer friends who say it tastes exactly the way they remember it from the Barn. We love it! Enjoy!

1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
Mix well and bring the mixture to a hard simmer over medium heat.
Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for approximately 45 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
Cook until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
Let it cool before serving as a dipping sauce.
